Romance isn’t the only thing to celebrate during the month of love. Thanks to Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation, women have a day all of their own to celebrate one another and their friendship. Aptly named Galentine’s day, February 13th is, as Knope describes, dedicated to “ladies celebrating ladies”. If you want to put together the perfect celebration for the ladies in your life, here are a few suggestions to bring your Galentine’s day party to the next level.
Decorations
Whether you and your lady friends are simple and sweet or if you prefer to go all out when planning a party, the first thing to decide on is the theme. A red and pink theme or a glittery, rose gold color palette are perfect options for those who prefer to party more and prep less. However, if party planning is your specialty, try a more complex theme like Girl’s Night Out or Pajama Party. No matter what theme you go for, be sure to pick out plenty of heart shaped decor, grab gorgeous flower arrangements, and leave the boys at home!
Brunch
A Leslie Knope classic, serving brunch is a great way to get the party going. With so many food options, sweet or savory, breakfast or lunch, there’s really no way to get this wrong.
We recommend putting together a waffle bar for your guests to keep the food (and the cocktails) flowing easily. Just place your waffles, plates, and utensils on one side of the bar, spread small bowls of your favorite toppings in the middle, and finish up with a selection of syrup and whipped cream to build the perfect waffle bar. Be sure to pair your waffles with a delicious pink cocktail!
Pro Tip: Shape your waffles into hearts to stay on theme. If you are feeling extra festive, you can even use a few drops of red food coloring to dye them pink.
Wine Swap
A wine swap is a great way to have both a party game and give your gal pals a party favor while staying on budget. Tell all your friends to bring a wrapped bottle of wine before arriving at the party. Then you can sit together and open them white-elephant style until everyone has a different bottle than the one they came in with.
